Our Philosophy
Kanadiana is not just an ordinary house - it is a place that connects art, people and nature.
Kanadiana is a creation which was born out of passion for life and respect for the environment that surrounds us. We believe that Kanadiana will become an inspiration for us, our children and anybody who will visit this place.
Genesis of the Project
It all started in Slovakia in 2004. During our stay in Europe we had an opportunity to be exposed to great European modern architecture and industrial design.
The name Kanadiana derives from Danubiana+Kanada (a Polish word for Canada). Danubiana is a modern art museum located in Bratislava, Slovakia which has become an inspiration for this project.
A Little Bit of History
When we arrived back in Canada in 2004, we bought one hectare of land (forest) that we envisioned as a perfect place for our future house. The property is located in Chelsea, in the province of Quebec, about 20 minutes north of Ottawa. The house is backing the Gatineau Park - a popular area for weekend escapes for the residents of the National Capital Region.
We gave the task of designing Kanadiana to Pawel Fiett, a friend and an architect, who worked with us and his team to make our vision a reality. The house is an evolving project and the design has been modified in the process of construction. We are approaching the final stage of construction.
You can find out more about the house by viewing pictures in the above photo albums and visiting other pages on this site.
